The Department of Computer Science and Applications was established in 8th August 2001 with the vision of grooming professionally qualified women who are competent enough to cope up with the challenges in the IT revolutionized world. In the beginning 30 seats were sanctioned for each BCA batch .At present there are 36 seats for each batch. In 2009, Choice Based Credit Semester System was introduced to bring innovation in education which is expected to improve the quality of education. Computer related subsidiary papers of B.Sc.Chemistry and B.Sc. Microbiology are handled by the faculty of our department. M.Sc Computer Science was started in the year 2004, which is a 2 year (4 semesters) full time professional course. Each batch has a capacity of 12 students.
The department is devoted to imparting Quality Education in Computer Science and Information Technology that has global recognition. Information Technology is one of the rapidly emerging areas for the past few decades and we focus on contributing towards molding Technology savvy Graduates/Post Graduates.

We know that India is an IT power thus it is obvious that the courses in Computer science/applications will provide jobs in the IT sector. The companies such as Wipro, InfoTech, Satyam, TataConsultancy Service (TCS), Siemens Communications, and even International companies such as Vodafone, and Essar Communications are hiring Students every year. The Students are also getting placements in dairy firms, banking firms etc. If one wishes to become a Software Developer or web-designer or wants to take up a career in Systems Management, then BCA is the best course to get an early start for their careers. Job opportunities can be found in both large and small software development organizations as well as hardware companies.
In general the career opportunities for computer science graduates can be classified into seven categories: programming and software development, information systems operation and management, telecommunications and networking, computer science research, web and Internet, graphics and multimedia, training and support, and computer industry specialists.
The BCA and MSc courses also provide an excellent grounding for further research, either through PhD study or in a commercial setting.
